SUMMIT
In 2018, to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Club of Rome, the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome has decided to hold its Annual General Assembly in Rome, followed by a 2-day Conference, open to the public, on the Sustainability Challenges for a World of 10 Billion People.
This Conference aims to bring to the fore the critical problems facing humankind today, along with new ideas and initiatives devised to help resolve them so as to make the world more sustainable.
The 50th Anniversary Conference will be held on October 17-18, 2018 and will bring together an outstanding group of cutting-edge speakers, both from outside and from within the Club of Rome. The Conference will begin with a Session aimed at answering the difficult question of why the world has not listened to the warnings of The Limits to Growth and why, nevertheless, we believe there is still a better path that humanity can take
This will be followed by six other Sessions which are key to addressing the sustainability challenges facing mankind in a world of 10 billion people. These Sessions include:
1. Adressing a Planetary Emergency: Global Climate Change
2. What Economy is Needed for a World of 10 Billion People?
3. Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
4. Prospects for Renewable Energy and a True Green Economy
5. Insuring Humanity Survives the Anthropocene
6. Human Values for the Anthropocene
